WHO WE ARE
In response to the scriptures,
WE ARE A LEARNING CHURCH...
"They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching," Acts 2:42. We are learning Christ, by giving personal and corporate attention to scripture, by meaningful spiritual writing and midweek study programing. In our learning we seek, "to be made new in the attitude of our minds and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Eph. 4:22-24
WE ARE A CARING CHURCH...
"They devoted themselves to fellowship," Acts 2:42. We are called to share in a common Christian life. And the fruit of that common life is underscored by the ways we inspire each other in the Christian life, challenging and encouraging one another as we seek the image of God in one another and the world. We partner with several area organizations, including Maple Leaf Homes, Women Safe, the Chardon Square Association, and the Jump Start Preschool.
WE ARE A WORSHIPING CHURCH...
"They devoted themselves to the breaking of bread," Acts 2:42. We commit ourselves to join with the ages of Christians who gathered on the first day of the week to break bread, in the sacrament of the Lord’s supper and Morning Prayer. We gather, bringing all that we have, in an attitude of awe and wonder toward the one who calls us into fellowship. Our worship is directed not toward ourselves but toward our God.
WE ARE A EVANGELICAL CHURCH...
"They devoted themselves to the prayers," Acts 2:42. Our vision of evangelicalism is expressed in our determination that everyone is welcomed, that there is room for all, and that no matter how you define yourself, there is room at the table for you. At St Luke's, everyone makes it through the door, no exceptions!
